Treze Tílias (German: Thirteen linden) is a municipality in the Brazilian State of Santa Catarina. It extends across an area m² in the West of the Brazilian mountains of 158 km. The climate is moderate with four seasons and possible snow in the winter. Treze Tílias gained a special recognition by the fact that it originated from a settlement of Austrian immigrants mostly received their language and tradition to this day.

    History
The founder of thirteen linden was Thaler from Wildschönau in Tyrol, Andreas. As a former Agriculture Minister of Austria (1925-1933) he had demanded often subsidies for his emigration plans because he wanted to allow a secure existence in Latin America Tyrolean farmers because of rising unemployment, a Preissturzes for agricultural products, and the thousand-mark lock.
Already in 1931 he presented building a cooperative organized settlement of Catholic Landwirte-and artisan families in a State in which the preservation of traditional values and the language not through pressure to assimilate is endangered. By Walter von Schuschnigg, thaler came to the lands West of Santa Catarina. The emigration plans of Thaler and Schuschnigg had a culture missionarischen aspect: Schuschnigg wanted to prevent the immigration of Italian colonists and the project of thirteen linden the German settlements in Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul link. A significant pioneer of thirteen linden was also the Austrian priest Monsignor John Reitmeier, which played significant role in the founding of the school (to the memory of him today "Escola municipal Monsenhor João Reitmeier" called).
Despite strong political opposition Andreas Thaler could translate on 13 October 1933 with the first emigrants to Brazil. This was possible not least him due his relations to Federal Chancellor Engelbert Dollfuss, who provided him with time 500,000 S.
The new community was Thirteen linden (Portuguese:) Treze Tílias) named after a poem by Friedrich Wilhelm Weber. The structure of the settlement was initially tightly cooperative organized, work were paid half in vouchers. But after some protests, Thaler divided the land among the settlers. After the Anschluss of Austria to the German Reich, the Nazi party tried to annex thirteen linden and to establish a settlement for Sudeten Germans in the area. However, legal problems, the resistance of the colony, and last but not least the beginning of the 2nd world war prevented these plans.
1939 Thaler was a flood 55-jährig killed, but the waves of immigration ended until 1959 final, as the Austrian Foreign settlement society was dissolved in Innsbruck, Austria. In the 1940s was called thirteen linden Papua; the policy against former inhabitants of the axis powers led to numerous name changes of immigrant villages. But tradition and culture have been largely preserved due to the strong efforts of the residents and not least the tourist attraction of Dreizehnlindens as an exotic holiday destination.
in 1961, the remaining rights were distributed in Treze Tílias. It has been stated on 29 April 1963 to independent municipality.
Until the 1980s the place randlage with his minor hamlets Dollfuss a meager existence, because poorly and thus sales of agricultural products complicates the road in the nearby town of Joaçaba was. Only with the connection to the road network and the founding of the dairy Tyrol in 1975, the districts of Libya received an economic boom.

    Economy
The dairy Tyrol is the second largest dairy in Brazil, the largest operation of the town and one of the largest in the whole region. 1 300,000 Liters of milk from 12,000 farmers from a radius of 600 km will be processed here every day. The idea of a dairy fell to the Tyrolean folklore Professor Karl ILG, which advocated for 1966 and could indicate the agricultural and tourism development opportunities in the community in the following years by corresponding expert opinions of various experts. The second pillar of the community of Treze Tílias is tourism. Every year mid-October Treze Tílias celebrates a Tyrolean Festival to commemorate the Austrian immigrants.
The Austrian tradition remember in particular the widespread crafts of wood sculptor and the Tyrolean band of thirteen linden, the Schuhplattler group, the folk dance group, many houses in the Tyrolean style, the Edelweiss bar, the Town Hall, many flowers at the town entrances and in the Centre and some hotels in the Alpine style.
