Hydroelectric power station Xingó
The Hydroelectric power station Xingó was built in 1994 on the Rio São Francisco in Brazil between the States of Alagoas and Sergipe. The nearest towns are piranhas in Alagoas (12 km away) and Canindé do São Francisco, Sergipe (6 km away). The dam is also 65 km from the Paulo Afonso complex, which is also located on the São Francisco.
The dam is a dam in Felsschüttmaterial with a water-side concrete surface (concrete faced rockfill dam (CFRD)). The hydroelectric power plant has 3162 MW six turbines with each 527 MW of power, together. The overall performance with 5020 MW or 3000 MW is specified elsewhere. -The dam is 65 km long.
For the most dimensions of the dam and the reservoir, there are very different and very different information in different sources.
